Hi Maya: Thanks for your comment regarding donorbadge. You bring up an interesting point and we are well aware of the feature you are referring to. I made a small gift in your giving site to understand how it is set up. It is easy to use and well done.

donorbadge is easy to use as well but offers many more capabilities that have proven successful in increasing awareness about Annual giving by leveraging the social networks (Facebook, Twitter and soon LinkedIn). It can be used for both online and offline giving, and provides a closed loop mechanism to track the results. It doesn’t require programming expertise, can be set up instantly and saves considerable staff time. These are some of the reasons why institutions using the same feature are in the process of signing up for donorbadge. Also the price depends on the size and type of the institution.

I would like to invite you for a custom demo of donorbadge; I will be happy to share client case studies and references. My email id is shankarr@orbees.com. Look forward to speaking with you.

OK-- but here's what donor badge isn't telling you-- if you have a reasonably adept programmer on your communications staff, you don't need to pay them set this up-- it's a facebook feature you can do for very little expense on your own. Given the expected ROI, I'd say do it in house. We set ours up and while it generated some lovely interal kudos and a few ncie comments from alumni, it wouldn't be worth $10K to do it in my book.

I'm curious. Has anyone outside of the University of Michigan and the University of California Berkley tried this?

What was the implementation process/time like?
Did you experience a significant increase in engagement/activity on your social networking sites?
Did you experience increased giving as a result of the new DonorBadge?

We looked at Donor Badge and it's very interesting. We are very interested in the peer to peer fundraising. We aren't able to invest in the product at this moment but love the concept.
